Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), the representative for the Bronx and Queens in the United States Congress and leader of the Democratic left, said out loud what is being whispered throughout New York: surrounded by scandals, affected by a series of forced resignations, the Democratic mayor of New York, Eric Adams , must also resign.
“I don’t see how Mayor Adams can continue to govern New York City. The flood of resignations and vacancies threatens the work of the city. The constant investigations will make it impossible to recruit and retain a qualified administration. For the good of the city, he should resign ,” Ocasio-Cortez said Wednesday, September 25, on the social network X and in an interview with the New York Times .
Eric Adams — a 64-year-old African-American former Brooklyn police officer — and his entourage are the subject of four federal investigations. According to revelations published Wednesday evening by The New York Times , Mr. Adams has been indicted. The New York daily, which was not in a position to provide further details, was trying to untangle the multiple cases involved for its readers on Wednesday.
